Thank you!
The East Village Dance Project (EVDP) was founded in 1997 as a dance development program for children ages
4-18, under the artistic direction of
Martha Tornay. The program began with a vision and a handful of talented and
dedicated young students. As we launch our 12th season, the program has grown to over 60 students with a diverse
range of unique talents. Many students participate in the pre-professional program, attending 4 or more classes a
week.
EVDP students have the opportunity to perform each spring at such venues as Pace University, NYU Skirball
Center, Abrons Arts Center and La MaMa ETC.  They have also performed with Kids Café Festival, Vanaver Caravan
Dance Festival, Keigwin + Company and at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors 2007.
EVDP students have been accepted
into professional dance academies such as La Guardia High School, Ballet Tech, Professional Performing Arts School
and School of American Ballet. From September through June,
EVDP offers classes in modern dance, ballet, pointe,
and improvisation.
EVDP is an all-inclusive program. No student is turned away due to lack of funds. Tuition
assistance is made possible by the Charlotte Ruby Cantor Fund, supporting the education of young dancers in the
East Village.
